What you will do
Brass here is engraved by hand, with a hammer and a punch, and you hear the workshop before you see it. That hammering is the sound of the job, and for three hours it will be you making it.
Other crafts
Three hours with a hammer and a punch, engraving a brass plate. Bring earplugs: a brass workshop is the loudest room you will stand in all week.

Per person. Brass blank and tools included.
You start on a scrap piece to find the angle and the weight of the strike — too light and the punch skips, too hard and it tears through. Then you move to your own blank: a small tray or a plate, with a pattern transferred on and then chased line by line.
You keep the piece and take it the same day. It will have a couple of marks in the wrong place. Your teacher will point out that so does everything in the souk, which is how you tell handwork from stamped. It is loud work, so say so in advance if that is a problem.
