What you will do
Zellige is cut, not moulded. A glazed square is scored and then chipped down to shape with a sharpened hammer called a menqach, held at an angle that takes a while to stop getting wrong.
FesPotteryArt
You'll cut and set around forty tile pieces into a small panel you take home. The hammer is heavier than it looks.

Per person. Tile, plaster, and a wooden frame included.
You start with the two simplest shapes and work up. Your teacher cuts these every day and will cut one beside you so you can watch where the force actually goes — it is a tap, not a swing.
Then you lay your pieces face-down into a pattern, pour plaster over the back, and let it set. You leave with the panel you cut and set yourself, around forty pieces of it, in the greens, blues and ochres zellige is glazed in. Groups are small, so you get the hammer for most of the session.
