During the session

Before you start, your teacher goes through the symbols in a finished rug with you: what the diamonds mean, what the zigzag borders are for, and which marks identify the village a rug came from. This is the part most visitors remember.

At the end

You weave a small panel and take it with you. It will be uneven. Everyone's first one is. You also leave knowing why a full-size rug takes months of work, which changes how the carpet shops look on the way home.
